ALISON McNEILL

FIDDLE WOKSHOPS

Alison McNeill Fiddle Workshops are always very popular with many fiddlers coming back every year. Alison’s workshops have also featured in The Box and Fiddle and FiddleOn Magazines.

  • “Alison is a demon - in every sense of the word. She plays superbly in a variety of styles and sings like an angel. She has a natural ability to teach, finding that very clever balance between not letting you get away with anything shoddy whilst avoiding too much pressure and seriousness  . . . . Your inhibitions seem to melt away as a result of her patience, firmness and humour.”

Adult Fiddle Workshop Summer 2007 CROP

The Intermediate/Advanced Workshop concentrates on many aspects of being a better fiddler and musician. We explore music from around Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Russia, Spain and Bluegrass America. We work on improving your technique, ornamenting tunes to make them your own and work in small groups to create a well balanced ensemble.

A two course lunch is included in the price. Tea, coffee and cakes are provided throughout the day. On the last day after lunch we have a "jam session" with all the tunes we have learnt throughout the course and have some other musicians join us for an end of course party.
